Talks have started on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal, the spokesperson for the Palestinian militant group Hamas said on Tuesday.

A small U.S. security firm is hiring nearly 100 U.S. special forces veterans to help run a checkpoint in Gaza during the Israel-Hamas truce, according to a company spokesperson and recruitment email seen by Reuters.

The 200-page document, seen by Sky News, comes as hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians are set to return to northern Gaza, despite there being limited infrastructure available to support them.

Steve Witkoff, Trump’s envoy to the Middle East, is committed to implementing the Gaza ceasefire and getting it to the second phase, he said in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.

The Israeli security cabinet approved a ceasefire deal on Friday, paving the way for the return of the first hostages from Gaza as early as Sunday and bringing a halt to 15 months of conflict that have devastated the Palestinian coastal strip.

The plan includes the release of Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners, the crossing of wounded Palestinian combatants and civilians to Egypt and the return of internally displaced people to their homes in northern Gaza.
